Two generations
APC classifies the AP9630, AP9631 and AP9635 as Network Management Card 2 (NMC2) models, and the AP9640, AP9641 and AP9544 as Network Management Card 3 (NMC3) models. NMC3 is the current generation and the one APC is actively developing.
AP9630 vs AP9631
Both are NMC2 cards for monitoring and managing a UPS over the network. The AP9631 adds two USB ports and two universal I/O ports, which take APC's temperature and humidity sensors. If you'll never need environmental sensors, the AP9630 does the job for less.
Why choose NMC3
NMC3 cards such as the AP9640 and AP9641 have a faster processor for stronger encryption and current firmware support. For a new install, or anywhere security reviews look at management interfaces, NMC3 is the better choice.
Before you order
Check that your UPS has a SmartSlot that accepts the card, and that the firmware supports your UPS model. Used cards often need a reset to factory defaults before you can configure them. Send us your UPS model and we'll confirm the right card.
